Thurnstein has a very special charm. It’s not simply a stately home but rather a castle, which was first mentioned in 1276 as Thurm Platzleid. It is situated in a wonderful, panoramic location west of Castle Tyrol. Several of the castle rooms were converted into an inn in the years following the First World War.

Today you are welcomed by the Bauer-Ambach family: Culinary delights to spoil you are prepared by Marialuise and her son Leo. Son Valentin and his father serve you specialities from the kitchen and the cellar.

The menu in the Thurnstein restaurant ranges from South Tyrolean specialities and traditional Italian dishes through to delicious desserts, cakes and strudels. Thurnstein is only open until 8:30 pm in the evening.
