Schnalshuberhof is situated above Algund in Oberplars and will impress you with its blend of tradition and creativity. The organic farm is surrounded by wine terraces and fruit orchards and the house is under cultural heritage management. Guests can experience a trip back to the past in the so-called ‘Newspaper Room’. Newspapers from past centuries are displayed there on the wainscoting.
What is dished up on the table has been grown in the garden, because Schnalshuber is actually a so-called Buschenschank. Establishments are only permitted to use the name in South Tyrol if the products they work with are sourced primarily from their own fields.
The famous Buschenschank is only open from Thursday to Sunday. It’s not always easy to secure a place at this small, family-run farm, so it is best to reserve a table. But you really do have to have experienced it once in your life.
